I see "with au jus" fairly often in descriptions in restaurant menus.

Another common menu error is "ice tea." It's not tea made out of ice. It's tea that is iced / served over ice. Hence, "iced tea." So many people don't get this!

I know someone who is a realtor who thinks he's "real-a-tor".

Still, one of my favorites is "jaguar" pronouced as "jag-wire". We need a "pulling my hair out" emoji.

There's always the word "criteria" that is misused more often than not. We often hear "this criteria", as if it was a singular word. "Criteria" is the plural of "criterion" ... so, "this criterion", "those criteria".

Same with data, media, and a zillion others.

I once saw "Asparagus with Holland Days Sauce" listed on a restaurant menu.
I asked the waitress if it was possible to substitute "Holland Nights" sauce, but she just gave me a confused look.

+1

… and then we have bacterium/bacteria.
If I hear one more person on TV or radio say, "the bacteria is", I think that I will scream.

A horrible, semi-literate woman posted the following on her Facebook page, after observing her son run over--and kill-- several cats:

"maybe people should keep there cats at there house and not on the street so proud of him Eliminating the cat population."

We can't do anything about her incredible insensitivity or her lack of literacy, but I am happy to note that she and her son were both arrested.

LOL, ikr! And what kind of an animal is a jag-wire, anyway?
