Nobody is claiming it "cures diseases" though - it only alleviates the symptoms of certain ailments. For example if you have cancer, it can alleviate the side effects of chemotherapy and thus potentially extend your survival (as you won't be wasting from not eating/vomiting/etc). But it's not gonna shrink your tumors.

Don't smoke, never have but I do have questions.

1) Are gummies as effective?

2) Why does it smell like skink, growing up in the 70's it didn't.

3) Smoking anything is bad for you that has been proven. I'm talking actual smoke into the lungs. So why is ok to approve pot and not Tabaco?

Tobacco is still legal and cheaper per unit of weight than weed. Why one is villainized while the other is sanctified probably has to do with who is making the money.

You ever talk to an anti-tobacco weed smoker? I have, numerous ones on numerous occasions going back fifty years.

1. You do not "think" as well when you're high, you simply do not. Decision making suffers.
2. EVERYONE knows when you're high. Everyone. Never think "you fooled them." You did not.

Because of these facts - and they are facts - and combined with the OTHER fact the plenty of places do not drug test - we regularly enter a business where the entire staff is too stoned to help. They're giggling or sitting on the floor or unable to answer questions or busy eating. Their defense is, HEY IT'S LEGAL. Sure. But it's stupid.

Do that crap at home, or at fishing, or at the golf course, or something - but why would you do it at your job, and expect customers to return? Why would you do it at home - if you have kids, since any urgent situation would require a smart decision within seconds - and you might not be able to provide it? Yet folks do..."cuz it's legal, mannn."

Making it legal SHOULD have removed the stigma, and allowed folks who want to smoke responsibly to do so in a comfortable environment, preferably their own house. Not their car. INSTEAD, it gave the green flag to show up at any and every venue including your job or school too stoned to be useful. Without any repercussions, this is now what we have. And it's why I can't support legalizing it. Not because I am anti-weed - that would be crazy hypocrisy - but because I'm anti-idiot. I do not care if you're high. I care that I have to deal with you while you're high, and that you being high is preventing me from doing whatever I need to do - like order a burger.
So you're pro prohibition of alcohol too then? These same exact arguments could be made for alcohol. If someone chooses to use while on the job then it affects everyone indeed. At least weed has fewer deaths from bar fights and car accidents. I will also mention that weed has recorded no deaths from overuse by addicts. My step dad is currently 3 months from death due to alcoholism.

I believe the poster is referring to the fact that prescription drug companies are lobbying against it's legalization because it will cut into their profits of drugs that also suppress the same symptoms of cancers, etc.

In addition, it's harder for governments to tax marijuana because it grows naturally and requires hardly any processing, unlike tobacco which someone cannot just make at home because it's filled with chemicals. Nobody grows their own tobacco but plenty of people grow their own weed.
