I am aware of problems in several democrat controlled states and cities with many liberal minded residents such as California and Oregon (particularly Portland) occurring presently.

I reserve personal opinion on the potential matter, and merely present it as a speculation based on recent observation. It may or may not have merit or hold water, but could be a theory worth consideration.
Let's not forget the indoctrination of our children within the education system. Gen Z was out in full force to vote the way they were brainwashed to vote. They have strong beliefs in abortion at any stage and open borders. I listen to this generation at work. Some of them are lovely people, some hard working, dependable coworkers, but have no idea the damage their vote may cause.

I read the Bills and email the sponsors to express my opinions but they just don't care. Some don't even have the decency to respond, but I still feel it is important to speak up. Imagine if half the state did that. They would then come to the realization that the taxpayers are watching them and going to hold them accountable for their vote. I have an email from someone in the governor's office saying that as long as the taxpayers keep approving the school budgets, they will continue to raise taxes. It makes a lot of sense to me.

Now that the state is pushing to take over property reappraisals, you are going to see a lot more homeowners put their houses on the market and run south. This is going to be the point of no return for some.

I don't see any solve to the school budget issue. When I speak with my friends and acquaintances who are childless (many single as well) and ask them if they plan on voting on an upcoming school budget they look at me like I have lost my mind. They usually are WAY too caught up in their own lives and the pleasures (travel, sports, dining, etc.) no children and the extra time and money it allows them. "I can't be bothered" is the stock answer I usually get.

Parents with kids, all employees of a school district, the spouses, friends and families of employees of a school district, etc. are all going to vote to pass a budget. And in the event a budget seems threatened, folks will threaten property values going down if it doesn't pass, which would affect everyone, childless and single or not. "Do what we say, and nobody gets hurt"....

In a very small town next door to us, one of the clerks at a market I frequent regularly started chasing someone (or more than one someone) around in the store with a knife.

https://www.newportdispatch.com/2023...-with-a-knife/

a couple days later there was swatting incident at the same town's middle/high school.

https://www.wcax.com/2023/04/13/poli...t-bfa-fairfax/

I believe both these incidents are likely mental health related......problems gone unresolved. I mean, that seems obvious. Who does this stuff?

Someone told me 40% of Vermonters are employed with the school districts so then add in their family members and it is a lost cause. I wouldn't let a threat like that scare me to vote down the budget. How can they do that anyway? I will never approve a school budget that pays salaries like this state does. Wait until everyone gets their tax bills this year. I know I will never be able to make enough to cover the state tax hikes and inflation. It is out of control and the future is looking grim to remain here.

Wait, you think there are 240,000 school employees in Vermont?

You can't expect anyone to take this claim seriously.

Lol. 40%. Some folks want you to believe Vermont is the most fertile breeding ground for commie-nism.

I didn't do the figures, I was going by what I heard or read somewhere years ago. I will look into it now that you are telling me this isn't right. I would like to hear your opinion as to the percentage of people employed by the education system. I would guess around 30 percent. But even if it was 25%, you still have to take into account the family members that benefit from that one person working in the system. These people will vote for these budgets. It is very hard on the taxpayers that are dealing with these unrealistic salaries, benefits and yearly raises. As of last year, VT was the second highest spenders on education. There should be a cap on how much they charge retirees. Then the younger generation can raise it all they want without putting a strain on senior citizens. I'm sure I will never see a Bill like that sponsored by a representative in this state.

Well, I can say that I am one of the few (i can count on one hand) that will admit when they post something wrong, as I just did. You can't deny the socialism in this state though, but I'm sure you will.

I don't know about commie-ism, but do you deny Vermont has been trending further and further to the "left" regarding both politics and the political leanings of residents in general over the last several decades?

You might find this New York Times article interesting (dated January 31, 1986). Makes for interesting reading...
