Starting a new thread for the series due to the series crossover from Fox to ABC.
ABC is swinging for the fences with content and nailed it with "the kiss" on the last episode that has America talking. This was huge on a traditional big three network and doing so with two characters one might not expect to have it happen. Apparently ratings are off the charts, top three on Hulu for instance.
They will lose most of their audience if they keep up this storyline.
Frankly they will probably leave anyway.
Yes, I can't believe they did this twist on us! I don't like it, but since I like the show overall, I guess I'll still watch. (Plus, SWAT's ending, so there won't hardly be any of my drama shows I get to watch anymore.)
Wait...all this brouhaha over two men sharing a kiss on TV? This is hilarious.
But I agree that the 911 calls are far and away the most compelling part of the show. No surprise there.
I'll hang with it for a bit longer.

Sorry, off topic but I heard this morning (on the radio) that they have decided to renew SWAT for an 8th season.

As a gay man, I can say it is pretty significant weirdly enough in the year 2024.
A same sex kiss among women hasn't been a big deal but the triggered responses to two men are off the charts so yes, it sadly is still a "big deal".
Probably until it's more normalized as it is in real life, with first steps like this.
