Uber's pricing is market and demand driven, so it depends which weekend (for example holiday weekend vs regular weekend) and also the start and end locations. If you are in an area where Uber drivers are plentiful and demand is light to normal, prices will be lower than an area with few Uber drivers and high demand. It could be that a weekday outside of rush hour is less expensive than a weekend at any time.
I noticed the booking fee is nearly as much as the bloody fare, not including tip!
I'll say that I take Uber to and from the airport when I'm on travel. Even with tip, it's significantly cheaper than a standard taxi would be here in Honolulu, and also significantly cheaper than parking at the airport. From that context, it's been a godsend to me.
I'm taking am Uber in 4 days for a 40 mile trip to the Boston Airport. I have never taken an Uber anywhere before. I hate to think what that ride will cost, but I have no other option. Has anyone taken an Uber for that long a ride?
To give an example of the price surging we were going to the airport a few weeks ago. At 7 45am there was a Uber for $A47. At 8am the cheapest was $80. We waited another ten minutes and one came up for around $52, which we got. The last time we got a taxi home from the airport at 11pm it ended up charging us about $95, so we have switched to Uber.

I think I will try your system. Wait a few minutes before confirming a ride, and see if the price drops.

How far do you live from the airport?
