If your paying that much for 12 miles. I can only imagine what Uber will charge me for 40 miles. Maybe around 1pm the price of Uber is a bit cheaper. That's when I need the ride.

This is pretty simple (fare estimate)
https://www.uber.com/global/en/price-estimate/

I use ride share all over the globe (including Massachusetts)
It usually averages $1/ minute, but identical route time varies due to traffic (+ fees... Tolls, airport tariff, CBD surcharge...). And my cost / minute captures traffic rather than estimating by distance).

40 mile route might depend on available rides / drivers in your area. I have a tough time finding drivers and I'm only 20 minutes away from 500k population and into the boonies. (Across the state line does not help).

For considering international destination and currency.... Do the correct conversions to arrive at USD.

I did state our prices in $A ie Australian dollars, so you can take off a third to convert roughly to US.
Transport is expensive in Sydney with expressway tolls, airport access fees etc.
As weare retired we can normally travel all day on public transport for $2.50. But the airport train is privatised and costs $17, which takes it to $19.50 each.
Thus Uber becomes more desirable when there is more than one person and easier than lugging bags across stations when we need to change lines.
We used Uber in Spain last year and it was fine, other than for a couple of issues. One has to enter an exact destination, which was difficult at times. A couple of times, despite the tracking app, we could not work out which side of the road to wait on.
Then to use it when we got to Malta we would have had to enter our passport details, which we were reluctant to do. ,

Thanks for that price estimator. It gave me rates from $46 for uber share to $200 for the most expensive. I wasnt aware Uber had so many categories. The Uber X gave me a $76 Rate marked down to $61. I'm thrilled these rates are reasonable for a 40 mile ride. Is the price listed actually the final price at the airport?

I know what you mean lugging bags all around stations, and different transport lines. I could do transit also but I'd still need an Uber, to get to the train station 7 miles from my Apt. So I might just as well take the Uber to the Airport

I don't blame you being reluctant giving your passport info to Uber overseas. I would not want to give them that info either. I wonder what the reason is, that they expect passengers to give them that just for a ride.

Yes, that marked down price is the regular price(pre-tip) you do pay for your ride. I usually also leave a little tip for the driver, if he/she was a pleasant and friendly driver.
