Running for 90 minutes in Miami during the summer is my idea of hell.
Sorry, should have clarified. That applies to central midfield (d-mids and box to box mids) and fullbacks. Messi will likely play tucked behind a more target striker and he will not need to press or track back much.

Interesting. A midfield game based around running around a lot reminds me of the EPL 20/25 years ago before sides really started to implement new patterns of possession. Busquets has never buzzed around, he's always been a quarterback type of midfielder, a conductor, rather than a doer. Will be interesting to see how he does and whether Messi gets a much easier ride of it because of who he is?
If they're playing really poorly does the manager have the stones to drop Messi and Sergio? Because eventually, he will drop off and it will happen.

Messi will be fine. Guys like Henry, Villa, Zlatan were all aging attackers that were still effective until their time in MLS came to an end. I don't foresee any situation where Messi will be dropped for performance.
Busquets, on the other hand, I absolutely can see happening similar to Pirlo and Gerrard who were completed busts. We shall see.

Forwards in the Premier League are expected to press. Ditto the strong European clubs that qualify for Champions League. You'll notice that the forwards who pressed the least a couple of years ago like Lukaku and Ronaldo ended up being benched and are no longer in the league.
Messi can certainly hide in an unathletic league. MLS is, at best, mid-table Championship League. Most clubs would be in a relegation battle.

I don't think many MLS clubs would have qualified for the Champions League in the first place.
I wouldn’t go as far as to say MLS is an ‘unathletic league’, lol; that said, since when does the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner need (or want) to hide, simply because he’s nearing retirement?
