It was my understanding that raising the cables was the plan.

They should just go in ahead and rebuild
It will be worth it
Didn’t they mention building a second bridge near the Eastern Wharf a few years back?

This is a long shot but I think they should build a replica of the Golden Gate Bridge. If they build one near the Eastern Wharf they could design it to look like the Oakland Bay Bridge.

Talmadge- sorry about the context
When they first considered replacing the bridge, they were considering something similar to the Bayonne Bridge (Arch Bridge)

Contract awarded for general contractor to raise the bridge as a short term fix. Plan will raise it 20’ by shortening the cables. Estimated cost is $189,000,000, starting first quarter of 2025.

Yeah, I like to look of the current bridge more. A second bridge probably won't happen but if it did it should be an extension of Truman Pkwy.

Yeah that would make a complete bypass around Savannah (A Second Bridge)

A "Truman extension" bridge won't happen: too expensive (billions), an environmental headache (which would add even more to the cost), and offering questionable benefits for Chatham and Beaufort Counties. It would never win the funding.

Plans to raise the current Talmadge Bridge by x feet tells us all we need to know: a viable bridge gets a tune-up, satisfies Georgia Ports Authority's expansion plans, and makes old Savannahians like me happy. I love that beautiful bridge.
