I am going to be putting in a chicken coop and am looking for the base structure to build it off of and would like to start with a standard wooden garden shed. I could build my own but do not have the time given all the other projects I have in the hopper. Anyway some of us are probably familiar with the roadside sheds businesses where they have sheds constructed and the prices on them. I stopped to look and am floored at the expense of these things - they seem like triple what they should cost. Is this a scam or something and has anyone bought one of these things? I didn't speak to the person running it but is this like MSRP and they will offer it to you at half the cost? I have a difficult time believing people would pay these prices but the businesses seem to be all over.

Have you tried Amazon, Costco, Lowe's, and Home Depot? They probably require you to assemble, but compare to the roadside ones. Examples I found in a quick search:
Lumber costs doubled and tripled over the last few years (they were increasing pre-Covid but that really supercharged them). Prices have slowly been dropping but not at a very fast rate.
I live in Central Maine. About 90-minutes North of me is an Amish community [ Smyrna Maine ] with a General store, a wooden furniture maker and a shed maker.
About 90-minutes South of me is another Amish community [ Unity Maine ]. Again with a General store, a Charcuterie guy, veggie greenhouses, and a shed maker.
Sheds they make go from 12'X10' tool sheds up to one-bedroom 'tiny homes' pre-wired and plumbed, with a front porch and a porch swing.
My friend owns one of the shed companies. They have very simple to very elaborate. No different than any other business, they're fighting higher costs, transportation, taxes, wages, etc.

How about buying some lumber and using your saw and ...?
