You know you’re in a small town when City Data doesn’t list it?

True story. Small town.

When they layed it out, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, Main, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th. Then going the other way, 1st ave, 2nd ave, 3rd ave, 4th ave, broadway, 5th ave, 6th ave, 7th ave, 8th ave.

I know. Because we had the corner house on 2nd st, and 2nd ave. Our house number was 222.

I'm 53, I was back there last year. They've added 2 streets.

You know you live in a small town when, at your 20th class reunion (Go class of '87!):
The event is catered by a classmate who owns a barbecue restaurant
The Friday night mixer is held at a bar owned by a classmate
The karaoke at the bar is provided by a classmate-it's his regular Fri. gig
The Friday hotdog cookout is held at the park during the Youth Fair so people can stay close to their kids' animals
The hotdog grill is on loan from the Fire Dept., because a classmate is a fireman
The T-shirts are provided by a classmate because he owns the local screenprinting shop
Sat. nite DJ is the same classmate from the bar
You see several classmates who didn't want to come to the Reunion at the bar Fri. nite because that's where they hang out anyway

True Story-happened last weekend!

You know you live in a small town when there were no contingency plans for the Water and Electric Plant during Y2K because.... they had never been computerized anyway!

From where I now live there is a little town about 15 miles from here. 4 years ago, the only 2 seniors (both male) flipped a coin to see who would wear a skirt to the prom so they could dance.

You know you live in a small town when someone drives their Dad's tractor to H.S. and the other students don't give it a second of thought. You know you live in a small town when your Dad gets pulled over for speeding by the State Police and they both spend the next 45 minutes talking about fishing.

You know you live in a small town when...all true stories

All you need to do is put the name of the person on the envelope as long as it is local and the post office will deliver it.

When there are not road names to give directions where you live.

When people do not lock their cars or their houses.

When people actually stop to help you if you break down at the side of the road and you do not have to worry about taking a ride from them.

The town has more bars than stores or restaurants.

........when you come home and you find extra produce/baked goods, etc. on your kitchen counter because your neighbor had extra.

........when your mom and you were both delivered by the same doctor.

........when the cafeteria ladies let your Mom know if you are not eating the school food (pocketing lunch money)/trading lunches etc. at school.

........when you put stuff out on your lawn with a 4 sale sign on it instead of in a classified ad.

........when you only have to dial 4 digits for a phone number to reach someone in your town.

Oh, this is a fun thread (and brings back some precious memories!)
