A Pawtucket man ran over his girlfriend with a car Saturday night, killing her, according to Woonsocket police, who have charged him with murder.
James Grilli, 37, was arrested by Pawtucket police several hours after driving away from the Woonsocket parking lot where 40-year-old Erika Belcourt was fatally struck, according to a news release from Woonsocket police Sunday morning.

According to police, Grilli and Belcourt had a heated argument in Belcourt’s Walnut Hill apartment that later moved outside to the parking lot. Then Grilli got in his car to leave.
When Belcourt stood in front of the vehicle to try to prevent him from driving off, Grilli accelerated, according to police, knocking her down and running over her. He then drove away from the scene.
I believe those are all subsidized housing. There are several of those around there, in fact I believe a girl was shot in the parking lot of an adjacent (affordable) complex last year some time.
Suspect James Grilli's last address is 904 Newport Ave. in Pawtucket.
Grilli is also being reported as having recently been involved in a head on collision in Attleboro just two weeks ago on Sunday August 9th. He is alleged to have crossed the center line and hit a car in the other lane going the opposite direction.
