Yes the club 2001 was on the Northside. I used to work there as a coat check and Set Up girl. No liquor served( it was BYOB). So they had waittress' setting up sodas for party goers to mix with their alcohol. You had to have an LCB card back then to drink. I saw Wild Cherry, Cameo, and Peter Brown who made the hit tune (Do you wanna get funky with me ...do you wanna) all at 2001. I love disco !! Was there a place called the Bahama Mamma in the Bank Center Downtown?

How about Alexander's Grahm Bell in in Market Square. The tables all had telephones that could call one another. "Gee, that girl at table six sure is cute, maybe I'll call her and see if she wants to...you know."

Bank Library
I was a cocktail waittress at the Library in the late 1970's when disco was big. We had a great time there. People would come to the Library and then walk down to the Happy Landing across from Market Square and disco some more! I moved away from Pittsburgh in 1984, but have many fond memories of this great city!

Technically, Metropol opened in 1988, and lasted for about fifteen years. It was more of a club of the 90s rather than the 80s. Rosebud did not open until 1990 or so and and closed around the same time as Metopol. Graffiti opened in 1984 and probably was not mentioned because it did not close until the late 90s. I think the question was more about clubs that had their day in trhe sun in the 80s and closed in the 80s, which was much longer ago than when these clubs closed.

One time, they advertised that the recording artist, Tiffany, was going to be there. We waited and waited and FINALLY she did show up, and she said something on the microphone to everyone there and then left. I was disappointed b/c I thought she was going to perform! Eventually "Memories" business decreased and it closed. It then had a new name, but I cannot remember it.

"Heaven" was an awesome looking disco,too that was also in a former bank ( but I can't remember which street or building it was?) with the turned marble staircases,etc. I was there only once and I was still a teen then.
