Penn State football has a huge tv audience, as does Ohio State and Michigan. They could field all girls teams, play their current schedules and would still be ranked in the top ten.

PS - michagan ALSO played - and beat - perdue and indiana. Your point? They also played east carolina (they have a team?) and UNLV. (and maryland AND Rutgers.) So Michigan is better? ok, duh.
They have a good coaching staff? Really? Didn't they just fire their OF? And Franklin recruits very well, yet under delivers every year. That's the difference between them and Michigan. Michigan is in the playoffs again.

Ok, and?

they both beat the same teams. One lost the head to head. both are how many years in the top what?

If you want to see worse coaching staffs, then watch football - it wont be hard.

I never once said they have the best coaching staff, which would be where the comparison needs to be made. But 'good'? yup.

ps: what is the FULL name of the poll that ranks the team?

The trainers poll?

the ticket takers poll?

The groundskeepers poll?

Its like on the tip of my tongue...

You mean the polls were the coaches and media all vote for each other's teams? It's a good gig Every year Penn State gets overrated by beating teams like Rutgers and Maryland. Then they almost always lose to OSU and Michigan. Then they beat someone like Indiana or Purdue and get a nice bump in the polls again, because the conference 'is so tough'. Lol. Unless your playing OSU or Michigan, it's not that tough. Everyone else is usually mediocre. But .. Franklin still recruits well. He's a good salesman, just can't make it happen as ahead coach.

they publish WHO the voters are. There is FAR FAR more incentive for a coach to NOT vote PSU.

Oh stop. The Big Ten voter have a huge incentive to vote for their own conference teams. That way they have more teams in the top 25 and can claim the conference is so tough.

The only cure for the Big Ten conference is a schedule where they start their season with the usual patsies, but from within the conference. Then sometime in October they should play SEC teams for a few weeks. That would force the ranking system to be degamed.

But they'll never do it voluntarily as fewer Big 10 teams would see bowl games.

Not really. What determines who gets into the playoffs? The gamed ranking system.

Still a very talented and special program. They will get over the hump and make the playoffs most years now with 12 teams. We are.

Also, congratulations to my WVU brothers for a solid season. 9 wins is nothing to sneeze at. When does Pitt play!
