No comparison, mountains over ocean. I like to stroll along the sea with the waves crashing but 1/2 hour is enough. I can spend days/weeks/months in the mountains. I enjoy driving on the winding mountain roads, walking in the woods, camping, fishing in the lakes and streams, views of valleys below.
I would love to live on the water and it doesn’t matter if it’s a lake or the ocean. I grew up a mile from Lake Michigan and my daily 4 mile walk always included walking along the lake. Now I live in the foothills of the mountains. I came here for my career 27 years ago. It’s very beautiful and I love the extremely mild 4 seasons. So do others as Reno has doubled in size during that time.
Both for me depending on my mood. Where the mountains meet the sea is where you will find me. I live on the Olympic peninsula in Washington. If I go out my back door and look to the left I see the Olympic mountains and I can smell the Salish sea which is approx 5 miles to my right. I am so grateful I am able to live here and will never leave.
Mountains for us. We love summer trips to the Western USA. There are so many great places. Our next big trip in 2025 will be to Glacier National Park for a week, including a one day overnight at the Canadian adjoining Peace Park.
We lived in Denver for a few years in the late 80s and would go up into the mountains every other weekend all year round (skiing / light hiking or walking).
We are older now, don't live nearby mountains, but love where we live. Now going to the mountains is a summer vacation, but it is always a very special time / treat. We also now do what I would call walking vs hiking, but we bring the camping chairs along so our kiddos can hike as far as they want (We bring them along and pay for them and it's great to spend time with them and see that they have the same sense of appreciation of nature that we do -- DS is 28 and his significant other is 31).
