This should shrink the heads of all the negative nellies and those who like to offer unsubstantiated claims of Memphis decline. Memphis is definitely on the rise and these are the numbers to prove it:

Memphis Rising: Big construction projects exceed $4B

Here's an excerpt:

Artesian condos, $33.5 million; Bass Pro Shops at the Pyramid, $200 million; Broad Avenue, $30 million; Central Station, $55 million; Hotel Chisca, $31 million; Crosstown Concourse, $202 million; Graceland Hotel, $132 million; Shelby Farms Greenline, $13.9 million; Harahan Bridge/Main to Main project, $40 million; Ikea, $64 million; International Paper Tower 4, $115 million; Methodist/UT Medical, $480 million; Overton Square, $40 million; Shelby Farms renovation, $70 million; Tanger Outlet Mall, $97 million; Tennessee Brewery, $28 million; University of Memphis/UM District, $383.2 million; University of Tennessee Medical District expansion, $350 million; and Wolf River Greenway, $40 million.

This is not exhaustive either. There are other projects not mentioned here that represent serious investment in the city.

I didn't realize so much was going on in Memphis. I hope every single one of these do well.

BTW, anything new on the abandoned hotel on I-55 as you come in from Arkansas?

That's not the abandoned hotel. That's an abandoned warehouse. I haven't heard anything about the hotel. The Crump/55 area still needs a lot of love.
Here's an article about the former hotel:

I wonder what's planned for that property. With being across from the Orpheum and its new performing arts center next door, this should interesting. The bank never really quite fit in as far as downtown revitalization went. Most people don't really notice it's there unless you're parking. I imagine with that site selling for three million it's going to be demolished. Most likely won't be a hotel, there are known yet unreleased plans to revamp Peabody Place.

Their $20 million is just as good as anyone's! It may not be a mall but it could definitely stimulate creation of other logistics enterprises in the area and location makes lots of sense.
