Thanks Rakin but there was a thread on Texas Music Thread in the general Texas threads but I think I bored everyone to tears posting Texas artists everyday so I stopped. Now I've sort of zeroed in on the musicians from the Lubbock surrounding area and even that is a basket load of guitar pickers. There still are many more singers and songwriters than what I have covered. It seems everyday I run into a new name or group.

But I agreed on Ernest Tubb and Roy Orbison. They were definitely two of Texas' greatest. As I write this, I have a B&W signed photo of Ernest Tubb over my PC.

If you want to start a thread for West Texas musicians, I will most certainly participate.

Here's one that slipped my mind. Sonny West was born July 30, 1937, near Lubbock, Texas. As the writer of these two following songs, Sonny's releases never made it big but Buddy Holly took them and made hits.
