Need a retrofit kit for central vac inlets, convert Roomba to self-cleaning/emptying like the Toshiba Torneo Robo.
I do like the baseboard "sweep inlets".
I actually have two Miele RX1 robo vacuums. They are fantastic!!! As I am doing with the central vacuum research, I did the same for the robo vac. I discovered the Miele is the only one with replaceable parts and made from German internal components rather than all the other brands which are all made in China. I am a firm believer in buying quality products up front and typically do tons pf research before making a purchase.
I am in the process of having a new house built and it is about to be completed. The house is all hard floors so I installed four 30' retractable hoses (Hide A Hose). As you cannot run an electric brush for carpet using the retractable hose, so I see this being ideal for my hard floor only situation. That being said, the only thing left to do is decide what brand of power unit to buy.
I have been doing some online research and talking to some central vacuum dealers. I have discovered thus far that machines such as VacuFlo, Nutone, and Honeywell are what the experts consider to be "contractor quality" machines oppose to a specialty store product. I have been told by many dealers that these are basic machines made with the lowest quality internal parts. So I have narrowed it down to three brands; M.D., BEAM, & Cyclo Vac. Has anyone had any experience with any of these three machines or know someone that has? All input and suggestions would be very helpful and appreciated as I need decide on a unit within the next couple weeks.
Hi Rob:
I am also very interested in installing a Central Vacuum system.
Do you mind sharing which power unit did you eventually choose?
If you have all hard surface floors, there are three fantastic new floor care tools you may want to investigate, which obviate the need for a central vacuum system:
Just replaced my old Nutone CV653 central vacuum with a MVac brand called The Solution with Hepa filtration. Think MVac and The Solution are made by CycloVac. The quietest one I have ever heard at 58 decibels. Had it shipped from Canada for free and no sales tax. Cost was $399 US dollars. The unit has 700 air watts and 143" water lift and a ten year warranty. Much more suction than the Nutone. Our home is a two story with 3400 square feet.
In a two-story house, buy two central vac hoses: (1) upstairs hose (2) downstairs hose
Way less lugging.
