This week we're putting white washed bead board on the ceiling in a bathroom. This small area, with toilet and shower, had a lot of patches in it from moving a ceiling fan and closing up a skylight, that we just said screw it and decided to cover it with wood.

Hrm, well the SO and I bought a 1930 Tudor Revival 5 weeks ago and it has been non-stop. Right now, I'm working on moving washer and dryer plumbing from being run up the Outside of a kitchen wall to inside a wall, installing flush dryer and range 220 outlets, running a dedicated 20amp run for the washing machine (was on a Massively overloaded run with about half the house).

I'm taking a break from a total gut job on the master bath where I pulled down all of the original plaster, at least that which hadn't fallen down from the dozens of leaks. Removed the old cast iron tub (enamel was trashed, will Never 'paint' a tub again), fixed the Terrible modern plumbing that was just stubbed up through the floor by moving it back into the walls, added in-wall shelving for more storage, pulled all the 1980s-esq floor tile too. Since there was no vapor barrier or insulation, both were added. Also added an in-shower light and fart fan, more than One outlet, etc...

There's so much more going on, it isn't even funny.... I'm probably 2 months out from just getting into the house (major work done), and then the 2~3 years of Minor work will begin. Joy....

Mine is going to sound lame after that! I've been painting a bistro table and chairs and I'm almost done. If the weather cooperates, that will be done this weekend. After 1.5 years of waffling on fabric for throw pillows, I finally decided and ordered it. Then the day before it arrived I read about making throw pillows from cloth napkins. Of course I immediately ran out and bought enough napkins for about a dozen pillows! Funny how I could make that decision so easily. Now I have the making of about two dozen throw pillow cases in my future. I'll need to buy more feather inserts. After that, I want to paint some metal counter stools and recover the seats.

I'm in the gathering stage (fabric ordered this morning) right now for making a bed skirt and drapes for a guest bedroom. I finished the master bedroom a few weeks ago. The bedskirt in there was so easy and turned out so well that I decided to move on to the next bedroom and do it again.

If you've never used the bedskirt pins from Bed Bath and Beyond, you should give them a try. All you have to do is make the panels however you want them to look and attach them to the boxsprings. The panel/bedskirt pin method works on beds that have a footboard, not so sure about doing it on a bed with no footboard.

Back to painting cupboards. Slow going, it's so humid they are not drying to do both sides, taking days and days. Then there's the laundry room, and the bedroom drapes and the office wall decor and the deck and...

Everything - LOL. We just moved into our new house Monday. This was AFTER redoing all the flooring and painting several rooms. All the furniture and nearly all the knicknacks are in place now but today and tomorrow we are going to focus on mounting several TVs and very large mirrors. This weekend we will probably work a lot on organizing the garage. The kitchen is going to be a major renovation but at least it's functional right now. We plan to have the kitchen redone by Thanksgiving - that's the plan anyway. The front yard is beautiful but the back yard needs to be completely gutted, about four trees cut down, all "landscaping" redone, terraced, and we are going to put in a new patio area with a larger covering. Getting bids on that now.

My fun projects for next week are going to be painting the front door a deep, rich blue, replacing the front door hardware and the house numbers and lights. Hope we get to that - it will really make the front porch look great.

I think my weekend project is going to be doing a very aggressive declutter of my wardrobe (so, 2 closets and 2 dressers). My eventual goal is to get it down to just one closet and one dresser so I can get rid of the 2nd dresser and use the 2nd closet for household storage.

I also have some drawers to install in the cabinet under the bathroom sink.

I love the look of bead board or wood panels on the ceiling. We are planning to do that in our living room and dining room at some point in the near future. We will either stain it or paint it white. I think it adds a nice detail to a room. We did it in a bathroom in an old house and I loved how it turned out.

Right now we are getting ready to paint most of the inside of the house and add back the trim that we took off when we did some drywall work.

I love this look. Hmmmmm, that makes me think of doing that on the ceiling in my kitchen...

One more project has been added for the weekend:

The BF has agreed to give me carte blanche with his bathroom. I'm going to focus on decluttering and storage this weekend as that's the biggest problem. I've been dying to clean out his linen closet for months. It's filled with half-empty bottles/containers and he can never find anything when he needs it. (Then, we move on to paint/towels/etc, perhaps next weekend.)

Tomorrow morning . . . I shall introduce him to my very favorite place in the world. The Container Store.
