The Kraken......

I'm not a fan. It seems like something a beer-league team would come up with as an inside joke. The logo and colors are, okay I guess?, but that name is just bad. Not that they had a lot to choose from (Sockeyes? Emeralds? really?)

Your thoughts?

I still hate the name, but as far as everything else goes . . .

The design is great (there's a hidden Space Needle in the anchor), the colors are unique (I thought they'd go with green like all Seattle teams, but this works too), and just the imagery is amazing.

too easy to make fun of the name ("You're a fan of the Krakheads", etc.) but I really like the color scheme and personally really like the S. The red eye is a nice accent.

edit: just saw the hidden Space Needle like another poster pointed out. cool touch

Eh, I'm excited for the city of Seattle. But no, I think the name is rather lame.

Could have been something a little... Simpler I guess. "Kraken" sounds a bit like a try-hard (and as a poster above said) beer-league team.

I'm kinda neutral on the name & logo. But think it should be the CHAZ/CHOP Kraken.. (forgive me)

I'm amazed they didn't go with Emeralds.

Apparently there are no good team names remaining and this was done as a favor to some staffer's, junior-high kid.

I definitely think it sounds like an ECHL team, but team names jumped the shark for me when Anaheim was allowed to call their (then) team the Mighty Ducks. Let’s also be honest, the name Kraken didn’t gain widespread popularity until Pirates of the Caribbean 2 came out. So to me, this name will always be tied to that movie in many ways.

I’m just a bigger fan of names that have to do with the local/regional history or culture of the city. NJ Devils, Carolina Hurricanes, Chicago Blackhawks, Edmonton Oilers, St Louis Blues, etc.

Edit: I think the colors are awesome.
