McDonald's had acquired majority stake in Chipotle and then spun it off. A house a few houses down from an acquaintance in suburban Chicago was sold by an officer of Chipotle when it was spun off along with a few other McDonald's holdings. Chipotle would not be a fraction of the company that it is today without the huge infusion of McDonald's money that was invested in the company for expansion; there was certainly a Chipotle presence in McDonald's HQ at the time in Oakbrook.

Steve Ells was the founder and CEO until last year. He had a co-CEO for 5 or 6 years, who was his high school buddy from CO and was also based in Denver. The company and both of its CEOs until now have always been in Denver...
As Big Oil that boomed it seems to have left out downtown Houston .... luckily not the city. I would have hoped that Big Oil would have given back more to the city with investing in its core that it failed to make it a premier core in the Nation .... Yet. Always hope it will get there...... But even Uptown steals a lot. As most Top Shopping is there like the Galleria and International hotels. Just too far apart to complement each other better.
I know, that was strange! Especially coming on the heels of ExxonMobil consolidating in Spring instead of expanding their downtown footprint, like Chevron with the Enron twin towers and the proposed 3rd tower.
The only big 6 companies left in downtown are Chevron and Total. Those two leaving shifted the balance.
But it was strange for Shell to redevelop their Energy Corridor offices by tearing down their old buildings and relocating to the new green triple towers with tall 10-story parking garages built on vacant land next door instead of consolidating in One Shell and Two Shell.
A few of the largest stories in Chicago the past four weeks. The city is still on a good pace, the downtown area has added over 52,000 new jobs in three years. The number of jobs in the city itself is the largest since the 1980's when the manufacturing all left the south and west sides.
Good to see the number of jobs in the city hitting 40-year highs even as minimum wage in the city has been bumped up to $12 with $13 next year. The higher that is the most sustaining and higher quality lives it lets people live who work these jobs. Over 75,000 new jobs in the city since the city started bumping the minimum wage from the federal $7.25 rate a few years ago.
GE Heathcare is being spun off and will have its headquarters in Chicago, so another Fortune 500 added to the city.
McDonalds moved its headquarters downtown last month, bringing around 2,000 initial jobs to the central area of the city.
Walgreens is making a big move downtown to the renovated Old Post Office, bringing 1,300 jobs in the next year
Facebook is adding more than 200,000 square feet of downtown space with around 1,500 jobs this year
Google is bringing on another 100,000 square feet of space in the loop as well with around 750 jobs this year

For example, what does this guy think a "corporation" is? The type of business entity in legal terms? That would be perfectly ok. But not if their city is the only one counting that way. Some people use "corporation" for any major company based on whatever standards.
Some lists get confused by the "mailbox" issue too. Many entities are based at a mailbox in Delaware because the state laws are helpful there.
And of course a lot of people simply misread misleading headlines.
