I think he was talking about linear distance, then he would be correct.

Upon entering the Northwest Angle, one must place a videocall and report to US Customs.
Just as a clarification. Northwest Angle Minnesota and Point Roberts Washington are directly attached to the USA and the main part of their state, but you need to cross water to get to them. However, the Fulton County exclave in Kentucky, it is impossible to get there (even on foot or in a boat) without going through either Missouri or Tennessee. The presence or absence of a bridge or puhlic ferry does not change this fact.

There are dozens of places along the Mississippi River, where a part of a state is on the "wrong side" of the river, and a few along some other boundary rivers, such as Carter Lake, Iowa, from which you can walk on dry land into Nebraska but not into Iowa. This is a result of the fact that state boundaries do not change just because a river changes course after originally defining the boundary.

Rossville, GA (Chattanooga suburb) is 56 miles closer to Cincinnati, OH, than it is to St. Mary's GA (far southeastern corner of GA)

Iowa is the only state whose entire eastern and western borders are formed by rivers (not including stuff like Carter Lake).

St. John's, Newfoundland, the easternmost city in Canada, is closer to Ireland than it is to Winnipeg, Manitoba, which is only in the centre of Canada. So St. John's is actually way closer to Ireland than it is to Canadian cities further west like Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver.

Person A, in the Florida Panhandle, could place a call to person B, in Malheur County Oregon, and the difference in time would only be one hour, in spite of the fact that Florida borders the Atlantic Ocean, and Oregon the Pacific Ocean.

Also, Pensacola Florida is as far west 87 degrees longitude as is Gary Indiana, which borders Chicago.

There is yet another exclave, not talked about as often, because bridges do connect it to New York and mainland Vermont, but the geographical feature name in this case is Grand Isle County Vermont. If not for bridges, you could only enter Grand Isle County through Canada, directly by land. Much like Point Roberts, there is a much smaller piece of geography, another exclave, that exists in the US as Vermont, about 1000 feet of land:

Google Maps

New Jersey's northernmost point is also an exclave. The only way you can reach it is to drive through a cemetery in Port Jervis NY, and drive to its southermost point. At this stage, you pass directly under I-84, and to a survey marker where New Jersey wedges at it northernmost point.
