I've never used it as a beauty aid, but as a child I was slathered in it after spending the entire day at the beach and suffering from severe sunburn. I wasn't aware it was still being produced.
Memories!
As a kid in 1970's you couldn't get away from Noxzema! Mothers, aunts, older sisters, girl cousins, your babysitter, nearly every female on earth it seemed used the stuff and that tell tale scent was everywhere. Those dark blue glass jars of all sizes were in bathrooms everywhere.
As such yes, if you went to the beach or pool someone had a jar of Noxzema which your mom or some other well meaning woman or girl slathered you down with to treat sunburn.
Guys weren't left out; Noxzema had shaving cream as well.

Sweet picture, Robert! You both look so happy, and she looks like a teenager!
Thank you! When we first started dating 10 years ago, I posted a few pictures of us on Facebook. My family started reaching out to me and saying I shouldn't be dating someone so young. I had to reassure them that she wasn't as young as she looked. Of course, my family all loves her now (married 9 years in May) but they were super skeptical at first. We all laugh about it now.

She's a walking billboard for the stuff, I swear. Thank you.

Thank you! I always laugh and tell my wife that it reminds me of my Mom. Haha.

Noxzema shaving cream was the first product I worked with in the product development lab at Noxell. We were developing other fragrance products in the same line such as Lime and Wild Forest. All of the cans had to be individually pressurized (I hated that part) and then put into three different ovens to test how the fragrances would react to heat and the can linings over time. Some of them really stank, but Noxzema always held up well. We were allowed to take home any lab samples that were left over from testing, so my Dad had a closet full of shaving cream - enough to last for the rest of his life. I was really glad when I moved on to creams and lotions!
What a nostalgic thread! I got introduced to Noxema by my new sister-in-law, who married my 10 years older brother, so she was like a big sister to me. I copied everything she did. That's when I started using Noxema and used it for another 10 years at least. Then I started needing a little more oil in the mix and so switched to Pond's Dry Skin Cream and have used it for the last 50 years. Everyone says I have very young-looking skin so I've never felt the need to try anything more expensive.
