From what I understand, the Stantec Tower is a mixed use residential and office building is the tallest building in Canada outside Toronto. The owners considered having an observation deck on the 62nd floor, but was deemed too expensive. That was a wasted opportunity and would not have been that difficult as their are a number of mixed use skyscrapers with public observation decks. The John Hancock Center in Chicago is a mixed use office and residential skyscraper and it has an observation deck on the 94th floor and a restaurant on the 95th floor. The Shard in London is a mixed use office, residential, and hotel building and it has an observation deck on the 67th-72nd floors and restaurants on the 31st-35th floors. The Burj Khalifa in Dubai is a mixed use residential, office, and hotel and it still has observation decks on the 124th, 125th, and 148th floors, along with a restaurant on the 122nd floor. The Lotte World Tower in Seoul is also a mixed use residential, hotel, and office building, but still has an observation deck on the 117th-123rd floors. On top of this, The National in Dallas has restaurants on the 49th and 50th floors despite being a mixed use residential, office, and hotel skyscraper. So, this is truly a wasted opportunity for the Stantec Tower to have an observation deck.
