It's kind of cute that somebody would bother to come on a cycling forum and say with pride that they don't ride....and then actually "brag" about having a RHR of 65 like that's something special.

Per day? I'm a mountain biker and prefer the more difficult, technical trails so after about 10 miles I'm pooped. I ride twice a month so 10 miles/14 days = 0.71 miles per day.

I am a 72 year old woman who loves bike riding. Been very casually riding comfort and cruiser or town bikes for probably 20 years now. These days I don't ride daily or for as long, I had a terrible blood clot in my leg a couple years ago, andnow also have more deterioration of my spine. But I still do a little ride about 4 days a week, for about 5 to 10 miles.

I've discovered that I am more out of shape than I realized so I will progress myself conservatively, but I enjoy bike riding and it will certainly be a form of regular exercise that I will be motivated to do daily. Any imput is appreciated.
Start with low expectations. just make sure you do two things (three):
1. Have fun. If it isn't fun, you won't keep doing it
2. Get out there and do it
3. Stay safe!

I rode 4500+ miles last year. It was my biggest year yet, thank you COVID. I set a goal of "averaging 10 miles per day", which is 3650 for the year. I've hit it three of the last four years, I think. I typically ride three days a week"

Tuesday: 21 miles, 2 pints of beer, and maybe a few more miles.
Saturday: 50+, sometimes 70, sometimes less than 50
Sunday: Just have fun, don't count miles
Any other rides during the week are a bonus. Sometimes I'll just head out around the block to clear my head.

Also, consider that road miles are easier than greenway and gravel miles, are easier than MTB miles. So you might also consider doing "hours a day" instead of miles. Maybe start with 3-hours per week, and as your fitness increases, go to 5, then 7 (hour/day), 10, etc. It allows you to just be out there, and not worry so much about hitting certain stats.

If you don't use Strava, it is great for tracking miles and time. The free version does both.
