Yesterday I had lunch at the Timberloft at exit 258 of the I-40. Very good BBQ with reasonable prices.

Seeing Tiescher's status "German in TN" makes me yearn for the Gerst Haus in Nashville. Ausgezeichnet! There is a small German restaurant here in Cookeville, and there used to be a pretty good German restaurant in Manchester....not sure if it's still there, but there is a second Timberloft in Mancester.

I finally tried Flippin Burgers while I was in Cookeville today, the one in the mall. The burger was awesome, nice and thick (thicker than 5 Guys) with lots of toppings. I didn't think it was greasy at all, certainly not any greasier than what I've had at 5 Guys. I liked that the buns were also grilled. Their fries, however, were nothing to write home about although they're light years better than most fast food French fries. So while I prefer Flippin Burgers' burgers over 5 Guys, I definitely like 5 Guys' fries better.

I will definitely go back to Flippin Burgers, and next time I'll get a double burger without the fries.

Does anyone have ideas about restaurants that might be open in Crossville on Christmas? The state park and Cracker Barrell are closed.

Thanks for the information, I will try the one in Cookeville - if I find it. Any idea about the name or location?

The one in Cookeville is on Lowe St, about 4 blocks south of the square, on the west side of the road.

Has anybody tried the new Marco's Pizza located in the Kroger shopping center? Just noticed it yesterday and have not seen any advertising yet.

It's part of a national chain based in Ohio, and I believe the one in Cookeville is something like their 8th location in Tennessee. It's not bad. It's not the best pizza I've ever had, but it's better than most other pizza delivery chains I've tried, certainly better than Pizza Hut. The prices seem reasonable, too.

In fact, that puts me in the mood for some pizza tonight.
