I can't wait to move back! Wish I could get there sooner but we have to take some time to work through some financial things, moving money around, before we can make it happen. I'm antsy though, I'm checking over the house listings in my favorite neighborhoods every few days.

I remember the cool mornings in summer in Colorado Springs. My biggest motivation to moving there was the cool climate compared to where I grew up in Phoenix.

I remember those hot Phoenix nights as a kid laying in sweat due to our swampbox-only air conditioning with outside temps above 110. All I could think about was wanting to leave.

This time Phoenix is now going through a record breaking series of 110+ degrees each day. I'll bet there are a lot of young people there who must want to escape to Colorado.

I'm would love to bring my older sons to COS. We currently live within 3 counties here in SoCal with a total of 15 million people! I'm so desperate to get out that it's affecting my mental health. Looking at Northwest COS right now. Nothing huge, just a nice 3bdrm with some foothill views.

I don't know if there are any landlords out there willing to take my senior citizen section 8 housing voucher, but if there are, I will be the very best tenant you've ever had! I miss my home so very much...

I could see that - hail and wind and stormwater / flash flood issues. My parents rental house had this spring that appeared underneath the basement with the rain - and lots of roofs got smashed with hail.

Climate wise the COS area isn't quite as goldilocks as nearby locations (like Canon City or Rye or Taos or Salida) due to the hail and crazy wind gusts and freak May storms. You can see the difference in the trees on Pikes Peak vs other places in the Rockies - they are more wind battered and gnarled compared to ones that you'd see on the side of Wheeler Peak here.

Would I move to the Springs again the way/size it is now? No, I wouldn't. But of course not everyone is looking for the same things and what made it the way it was 30 years ago might not have attracted the people who are considering it now.
Interesting - it's the same situation here in Florida. I hope I'm making the right move because I'm not getting any younger...
