I like that analogy especially with Smart. Smart was a good college player, though. He found his niche in the NBA with defense on the Celtics. His offense, in particular, his outside shot didn't come until he was a few years in his career. Maybe Bronny could mirror Smart's career trajectory. That G-league option doesn't make sense to me for the simple fact he's Lebron's son.
Smart was/is a beast of a defensive player, DPOY type guy. It gave him an instant elite skill that earned him minutes in the NBA right away as the rest of his game developed.
Does Bronny have THAT level of defensive acumen? I really doubt. Yeah, late 2nd round pick with the hope he develops into a 2nd unit player that doesn't bleed points. Not a bad projection, not a bad career if you make it.
I don't follow the draft like I did, but when I heard that scouting report it was always "low ceiling, low floor" language. Meaning, nobody expects him to ever be a starting caliber player and there is a real chance his career is over before it starts..........so yeah, worth a late 2nd round pick if you choose. If not, UFA.
In shocking news, USC Trojans freshman guard Bronny James is reportedly planning to enter the transfer portal, joining starting wing Kobe Johnson in doing so, according to Hall of Fame reporter Dick Weiss. Though Weiss deleted his initial report, Kaiden Smith of On3 relayed the news.
The departure of head coach Andy Enfield to Southern Methodist University was bound to lead to some transfers, but Bronny being one of them is incredibly surprising given his strong familial ties to Los Angeles.
If accurate, this report also all but assures that James will return to college, as opposed to entering the NBA draft. There's limited clarity regarding which other schools he's looking at, but it's more than likely going to be a high-major program with playing time available at guard. It's worth noting that Ohio State made a strong push for him and just underwent a coaching change.

Bronny could stay in Southern California. UCLA and SDSU would be 2 options. Even Long Beach St or Pepperdine. I initially did not want him at UCLA because he appeared to be a flashy one and done guy. But now that is not the case. He actually would be a good fit for Mick Cronin. If he can develop into an elite defensive player that might end up giving him a foot in the door into the NBA.

USC's Bronny James has been medically cleared to play in the NBA by the league's Fitness to Play Panel, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski and Jonathan Givony.
According to ESPN, James' approval by the panel will allow him to fully participate in this week's combine. James, the eldest son of NBA star LeBron James, is expected to participate in 5-on-5 scrimmages beginning on Tuesday.
“He’s a very smart player and has a solid feel for the game,†one NBA scout told Yahoo Sports's Krysten Peek in March. “He needs more time to develop, but the fundamental mechanics are there.â€
There is a May 29 deadline for James to decide if he will remain in the NBA draft or return to NCAA ball. The Athletic's Shams Charania reports that it's expected James will stay in the draft, which will take place June 26-27 in Brooklyn, N.Y.

The Lakers will draft him because they want to keep LeBron. Not sure the scouts see anything. Its simply what LeBron wants.
He could be like Gary Payton III who is 6'2 and father of course was also star in the NBA.
Bronny got a 40.5 inch vertical, very good. Bryce at around 6'3 barefoot at least can be a backup sg, or pg. Well see if lebron plays year 24. Out of both sons probably bryce has a better shot of staying in the nba after lebron retires due to being taller. Bronny must only train to be a pg.
I really thought bronny would be at minnimum 6'2.5, bryce 6'4.
