That's the car she drives.

There are some class action lawsuits against three or so Subaru cars, including the Crosstrek. One of these lawsuits is in NJ, I believe. This one is about engine failure while the car is driven (or while the engine is running). The old close-deck Subaru engine was very reliable, but more expensive to produce. It was replaced with the cheaper open-deck design starting in the early '90s.
That RAV4 set up was the best. 3.5 and 5 speed auto. When I bought my 2012 Forester it was between the Forester and the RAV4 V6 but the price differential was a bit much at the time. Wish I had ponied up the money for the RAV4. I have friends driving them today with over 200,000 trouble-free miles on them.

Agree. Some of the head gasket problems with some of the Subaru engines creeped into 2012, at least for what I read in some of the Subaru owners' forums. The Toyota V6 engine in the 2012-13 RAV4 produces around 270 HP, and it's quite good on fuel considering that it is not a lightweight SUV. Somewhere around 21 MPG city, and 29 MPG on the highway.

My 2024 Crosstrek MPG is 32.4 so far, driving in the Hilo area. 3,000 miles.

How does the Subaru Crosstrek compare with the competition? The Crosstrek is far and above more reliable than every compact SUV.

2024 Subaru Crosstrek predicted reliability is the top at 99/100.
2024 Honda HR-V 85/100
2024 Toyota Corolla Cross 71/100
2024 Mazda CX-30 66/100
2024 Kia Seltos 51/100
2024 Chevrolet Trail Blazer 50/100
2024 Jeep Renegade 33/100
2024 Volkswagen Taos 18/10

This is the battle for the most boring appliance.

Yeah, small vehicles are so easy to park. What's the fun in that?

However, the Taos and Renegade aren't boring. Ownership of them would insure plenty of trips to the dealer for addressing problems. Never a dull moment.

But what do these predictions mean? I doubt they know what kind of majors repairs a 2024 model will need 10 years from now. To me that is a bigger issues than silly little things that happen when the car is brand new.

Now that you mention it, the Tiguan is the best looking small SUV and you can get one for $35k or under $40k. The SEL R-line. It just sucks that the reliability is questionable or below average even maybe. The other small SUVs are so boring or at just flat ugly. I’m sorry, the Crosstrek is ugly

Says you. I personally think it looks much better than the Tiguan.
It’s true that very few new rigs look decent. The new Rav4 is the only Rav besides the original that has attractive styling IMO, it’s just too big.

The Crosstrek is too small. I prefer the RAV4, but the Mazda CX5 looks good, too.

RAV4 is too expensive and long over due for a redesign.
