I wonder how many Australians will paraphrase Robert Menzies' little speech from 1963 when Charles and Camilla grace our shores: "King Charles and Queen Camilla, all I ask you to remember in this country of yours, is that every man, woman and child who even sees you with a passing glimpse as you go by, will remember, will remember it with joy, will remember in the words of the old 17th-century poet who wrote those famous words, 'I did but see them passing by, and yet I love them 'til I die.'" I suspect for a lot of the (fast shrinking) demographic that did feel some attachment to the monarchy, it was more about holding onto the symbols of their childhood and younger days rather than any real attachment to the monarchy as an institution.

Yes.

Events of 1975 showed just how unpredictable any parliamentary deadlock can become. A Governor General who can sack the government of the day, including the Prime Minister, and a Prime Minister who can sack the Governor General. Who pulls the trigger first prevails....in a way...
