I loved Augusta people, though I hear alot has changed & crime has gone way up.

When I lived in augusta back in the 80'-90's teen club called T.P. Cruisers. The owner was tommy Price a retired officer. It was around through that whole time. I wish i had more of the old vids from then. For a long while we were televised with WBBQ. Man i miss those days. If i had seen this post years ago i woulda mentioned them. I just ran accross an old taping of then and was searching for more when this popped up. Sorry if its to late.

Where I grew up we had a teen club called "Sliders". Everyone went there. It was open every Friday night. They would bring in bands and I remember Bon Jovi even played once (right when they were getting started) and it was a near riot to get in. It was a month before "Slippery When Wet" came out. Unfortunately it was shut down in 88 for giving alcohol to minors. It was not much of a secret that you could get your soda spiked with vodka or bourbon and people would even bring in flasks of booze. Well on one Friday night in May of 88, a group of teens left the club highly inebriated including the driver who drove jeep cherokkee off the road and I to a light pole killing 2 passengers 15 year old girls and 16 year old boy. 3 staff members were arrested including the owner who believe it or not was a former police chief. It shut down and never reopened.

Just found this old string. I was stationed at Ft. Gordon for AIT/Signal School, 19 years old. Got laid my first night on post on Barton Field, nice soldier who was leaving the next day gave me her best. Dated a nice soldier girl for a few months there. We hit the mall and The Bulldog bar there. Drank long islands. Danced at Katmandu and drank kamikazees. Purple Rain had just come out and the world changed. I heard Run DMC for the first time, Rock Box. It was a great time to be young. 58 years old now and life is good. But it was so much simpler back then.
