I agree. We need more glass style buildings. BUt I would rather see the city start pumping money into marketing campaigns to get businesses here

I definitely agree. There needs to be an emphasis on attracting tech related businesses and those in knowledge based industries. The 1950s economic site selection mentality that Syracuse will attract a 2,000 person manufacturing facility and all of the area's economic woes will be solved is misguided, particuarly given New York's high unionization rates, taxes and utilities. Although it would be nice if Syracuse could retain it's diminishing manufacturing base, the area must look to the future in areas like IT, biotechnology, indoor air quality, environmental systems, and other promising areas.

I second that and some of that is already occurring, fortunately. Education and health care have actually been on the upswing in the area.

Thanks for the pictures, RollsRoyce. I drive by what is going to be the Center of Excellence all the time. I thought it was funny looking at first, too. Being new to the area, I had no idea where the Center was being built.

Here is the website. Thankfully it will look much better upon completion.

According to an article in the paper recently, the project should start construction within several weeks. There were several notices in the legal section of the paper soliciting construction companies and bids. If the project was cancelled or on hold, I doubt the developer would have gone through the trouble of requesting bids and contractors.

That's good to hear! That project seemed like it would bring a lot of business to the area.
