Interesting. I wonder if the camillus/marcellus/elbridge area is worth investing in if it were to ever match cazenovia/pompey values. Seems like everybody's trying to move out to the sticks these days.

What do you mean by "investing in"? Do you mean to buy a house to live or to rent out?
Camillus is definitely a suburb, while Marcellus is more of an exurb/small town with some growth now and Elbridge is definitely more rural with a couple of smaller villages.
Cazenovia and Marcellus may be on par, as Cazenovia isn't quite Skaneateles, but is generally viewed as being a more affluent small town. Pompey is a matter of where, as much of the town is quite rural, but the northern third or so is more built up and quite affluent for the area.
^ Just to add to this, I would say that the Westhill SD(primarily Onondaga Hill(Onondaga) and Westvale(Geddes) are also up there, espcially Onondaga Hill due to space. For instance, this street view with a nice view of the Syracuse skyline in the background is in Onondaga Hill/Westhill SD: https://www.google.com/maps/@42.9950...6!9m2!1b1!2i37
That is the Brittany Hills development, which were woods about 20 or so years ago. so, you have some very nice neighborhoods in outside of the typical responses(eastern suburbs or the lake towns(Cazenovia & Skaneateles).

The Winkworth area(town of Onondaga) is another part of the SD that many may not think about and is very close to its high school: https://www.google.com/maps/@43.0241...6!9m2!1b1!2i37 (right at the Syracuse/Onondaga line just within the district)
A good choice if you want a smaller, but very good school district with close proximity to the city and shopping(Fairmount, Western Lights area, Westvale Plaza in Solvay, etc.).

Parts of the town are in the Jordan-Elbridge, Solvay and Marcellus SD's.
