I'm hoping to move back in a few years, and hoping to figure out how to survive as an aging (gorgeous) lady with a very bad back. Skaneateles looks like heaven to me--I hope to see ya someday there!
Any tips on how to survive re. snow removal, keeping the house warm--would be very much appreciated!

Thanx.
Ask some of the neighborhood kids and they might help you with some of that.

Wow great pictures, looks like a nice place to live.

I've never been there, but I gotta admit....I always thought it was pronounced "SCAN-tillies"

It is one of the more affluent communities in the Syracuse area. Maybe similar to say Garden City or Cold Spring Harbor in your area.

Skaneateles school district is ranked 3rd best in Onondaga County.

Replying to a joking comment made on this thread, just came across information that stated the Syracuse Metropolitan area has over 250 millionaires living in the area.

I know Fayetteville-Manlius is viewed as #1, but it seems like #2 can vary based upon the source and year. Districts such as Cazenovia, Jamesville-DeWitt and Marcellus have been up there; with Westhill not far behind among top SD’s. What is interesting is that many of these schools are in the same sports league in many sports(Skaneateles, Marcellus, Cazenovia and Westhill).

I’m also curious as to where you found the 250 millionaires information.

I don't remember, but was a competing website with this one, so I can't share it here anyway. I think the exact number from about 5 years ago was 284 millionaires living here.

So, that figure may be high than 284 now and I wouldn’t be surprised if it is.

^ Nice video…It looks like they went to the Rise N Shine in the Westcott neighborhood(there is one also behind the Valvoline on Thompson Road).

They also took the way into Skaneateles from I-690 west to 695 to Route 5 to Route 322 into the village. You can also take Route 175(South Ave.) or Route 173(Seneca Turnpike) out of the city, where they meet on Onondaga Hill. Then, take Route 175 from there all the way to the village. There is a sign at that intersection on Onondaga Hill where it says Skaneateles is 15 miles from there. Marcellus, a nice, more low key village in its own right; is along the way. You bypass it on 175, but you can see it’s Main Street before turning left.
