The mayor (LaToya Cantrell) that they have in office has to be one of the worst mayors that they've elected. This is a perfect example of what not to do when running a city like side stepping the problems and completely ignore what's going on. Cutting down on the police budget is definitely not the right answer as we see that it only made the situation much worse than what is was before. It also doesn't help that the justice system doesn't punish the criminals hard enough especially in a democratic ran city, they usually let them off on a small bond unless they have murdered someone. Now New Orleans PD is looking for help from the state police to combat the rising crime. It's a shame that the city has gotten that far out of shape, tourists are second guessing visiting the city and that will have an impact on their economy. No one wants to get murdered or carjacked for that matter, especially when they are just visiting. I really hope that they can make some changes to the city and put the crime on a downward spiral, it's a magical city and there is no place like it.
Be thankful that Texas is shipping "guests" that are invading their state to sanctuary cities like DC & New York, instead of shipping them to New Orleans!! It could be worse, New Orleans, look at the bright side!

What we've proven day in and day out is that crime DOES PAY!! If you're a criminal, these are good times, indeed! Especially in blue cities and states! You know who you are. Keep voting blue. KARMA

Oh my God,. A innocent citizen gets car jacked and murdered, so the mayor sits at the family's side during the trial to show support. Yea the family of da carjackers, WTF this has now turned me 100 percent against this sad pitiful excuses of a mayor. This mayor is a thug herself and a major reason for the sad state of the city Pitiful no excuse thug arseb

New Orleans was probably better off when the mafia was running things. At least people were safer.

1. NOLA has crime, as do many other cities.
2. NOLA is a wonderful city and has much to offer as a destination, such as great food, history, culture, architecture, etc.
3. If you don’t like it, move somewhere else or don’t come for a visit.

1. Nola has the highest murder rate in the entire country and higher than most 3rd world countries.
2. New Orleans is a great destination, but is being horrible tarnished by a criminal element that is going unchecked and is out of control.
