Boots ... was "the" place for steak when I first came to Huntsville. Kind of like a Mafia joint inside as I recall. Just off south Parkway

Fogcutter .... fireplaces, cute waitresses in short ole English skirts and outfits. Dark atmosphere. On University.

Lums - on Jordan Lane, Patton Road, Imperial Drive (just pick one). Great fried clams and hot dogs cooked in beer.

Irelands - Off Airport Road... little steak and biscuits and always seemed crowed.

Plush Horse - really a night club off Golf Road. Saw the Ike and Tina Turner revue there. Must have been before Tina hit is big.

Mr. Steak - south Parkway. Great steak and lobster.

The Rib Celler - in the airport terminal. Expensive, white glove service, priceless menus.

Shakey's Pizza - south Parkway. Hamburger and onion on thin crust and long community tables.

What do you miss?

I've heard of most of those and can remember the Fogcutter being burned down, for fireman practice.

I just found out there was a Shakey's pizza here long ago.

I would have enjoyed the Plush Horse, I have been to The Horse and always thought it would have been great back in the day.

The Rib Celler? Do you mean it was in the Airport Terminal at HSV or the "new" airport?

Wasn't there a place called The Islander somewhere on south parkway. It had really good food.

Loved Shakey's and the Plush Horse.

It was in the current airport which opened in 1967. It was very "cellar like" and I only went once because I could not afford it.

Was there a Maggiano's Little Italy here? If not, what was the name of the place in the shopping center on the comer of Whitesburg and Air POrt Road with the Dollar store and a Papa Murphy? I never ate there, but I thought about it. I recently dined at a Maggiano's Little Italy out of town and found it to be very good.

Time to say thanks and bon appetit | al.com

I had no idea Boots was open until 1995. I have never heard of it and I was a teen back then.
