Couldn't think of where else to post this. There's always the Music forum, but that forum is just for people to spam the game threads to boost their post count. Very few actual threads survive or even get a response. So my question to you all is....
Seen any good concerts lately? What was your best year for shows? Most memorable one? Who are you planning on seeing in 2023?
As for me- I already bought my blink-182 Pit ticket for May in DC! They have been one of my faves since 2002, but I never did get a chance to see them live and with this reunion, I figured now is my chance. Yeah tix were way overpriced (I paid $477) but this is a big deal for me. I really cannot wait.
Also have tickets to the Blue Ridge Rock Festival in Virginia...got the 4 day pass and a campsite. I am SO STOKED for this, and they still have 85 bands to announce! Already though they have announced Pantera and Megadeth, really hoping for a Tool/Metallica/System of a Down announcement soon. I've never been to a multiday festival where I get to camp out on-site. My 2 brothers are coming up from Florida to join me for this one.
August Burns Red with The Devil Wears Prada in Feb <3 two bands I've been listening to since high school.
Silverstein with Dayseeker in April. Dayseeker will be playing at the festival in September, and I never heard of them before the festival announcement but I've listened to their entire catalogue since, and really enjoy it. Going for them over Silverstein, but headliner should be good too.
2 smaller shows of Young Dubliners and Enter The Haggis, Feb and March.

So tell meh!
I live in the St. Louis, MO area, and there's a local Pink Floyd cover band called El Monstero. Every year, they put on 2 shows. One in the summer, and one in the winter, around Christmas. We have seen the last 4 shows. They're an excellent band, and the show is always amazing.
And in March, we're going to the Zydeco Festival in New Orleans...and I'm so excited for that. :-)

I haven't been to a concert since 2000, when we saw Jethro Tull in Seattle. The ticket monopoly has gotten out of hand and I refuse to participate in it any more. I remember going to concerts almost weekly in the San Francisco Bay Area, in the 60s and 70s with acts like Pink Floyd, Santana, Led Zeppelin, Rod Stewart for $3-5. Then in the 80s we did some more country concerts like Alabama, Garth Brooks and Clint Black, at $20-30/ticket. Now here in Seattle a largely unheard-of artist such as Bruce Cockburn is getting $65-160 and a really popular act like Ed Sheeran is $82 - $1,617. Then they sell out and the scalpers sell them in the secondary market for thousands to desperate fans.
"Seen any good concerts lately?"
no.
"What was your best year for shows?"
1973.
"Most memorable one?"
wish i could remember.
"Who are you planning on seeing in 2023?"
depends on getting a free or discounted ticket.
To show how long it's been since I went to a concert, I paid $20 each for my (then) wife and I to see the Beach Boys and Chicago in Evansville, Indiana in the late 1980s. The seats were so high up the man sitting next to us said he bet if we stomped hard enough, the oxygen masks would drop down. In 1978 I had second row seats for the Doobie Brothers for $18. Couldn't afford to go these days.
Saw Megadeth and Lamb Of God several months back. Including Brooks and Dunn. I was eyeing the BRRF myself. But that would be hard, considered our work schedule. One of the bands we want to see, Cold, will be in Shreveport in a few months, so that show is more closer and easier to attend.
Cold really helped me through some tough times. Death, addiction, homeless.. I've been a fan since 13 Ways To Bleed On Stage. Saw them twice before. First time we had merchandise signed by Scooter and crew. Pictures too. One of the greatest highlights of my life, actually, considering the positive impact their music put in my life.
But, I'm honestly tired of concerts. Really aggravating when you pay good money for a show, Including hotel, travel, to not being able to enjoy the show because of everyone's cell phones in the air recording EVERYTHING.
My musical taste is pretty spastic, so I've seen quite a few people. Mostly country because that's what my wife likes, but she's coming around to more rock related concerts.
Eric Church was my most memorable country concert back in 2016. Halestorm opened for him.
311 was my most memorable "rock" concert. Saw them last year in March 2022.
We had tickets to see The Revivalists in 2020 and covid canceled the show. They never came back to our area.
Probably seen Luke Bryan 10 times (my wife is a huge fan.... me? Not so much). Last one was 2022.
Kenny Chesney (put on a great show) 2022
Blackberry smoke put on a great show back in 2018. Haven't gotten a chance to see them again, but I would go.
Saw U2 back in 2018... I was not impressed. Wouldn't do that twice.
Saw Better than Ezra once at my mother in law's company picnic back in about 2016. Completely unexpected, but they did great.
My wife just got me tickets to see Third Eye Blind in March of this year. Looking forward to this one.
We also have tickets to Kansas in October. Also excited about this one.
My absolute bucket list bands to see are (again... my musical tastes are spastic):
Foo Fighters (lost the opportunity to see Taylor play)
Dave Matthews Band
Ghost (#1 on my list)
Rush (lost my opportunity to see Neil)
What was your best year for shows? Most memorable one?
Whew, what a year 1973 was for me regarding concerts! The venue was the Denver Coluseum, which had all the acoustics of Carlsbad Caverns National Park!
John Martyn, Free, Traffic- (January)
Allman Brothers (March)
Neil Young, Linda Ronstadt (April)
Led Zeppelin (May)
Jethro Tull, Steely Span (July)
Doobie Brothers, REO Speedwagon (Halloween)
Loggins and Messina, Dave Mason, Jesse Colin Young (November)
