How useful and relevant comment regarding EV charging. I know a good way to start.

It cost $90 to fill a small car in Calif right now.

Most EV's have a range of 250 miles. do you drive 250 miles a day?

$27 to $28 in my Triumph, tomorrow....(but, I use the "good stuff.")

"Fuel Low" light isn't ON yet. Got another 13 miles to go before that's triggered at 40 miles range left.

Oh, you don’t know even the half of it. Here, I’ll tell you more. I not only MacGyver’d the electric drive together … I built the whole boat … from the swing keel up. Sailing rig, too. Made the mast, the main, jib, and mizzen (it’s a ketch). But, apropos this topic, it’s the electric drive that I’m featuring: I designed and built for solar running and charging. I do have a bank of Li-ion batteries, and a 30 amp, 4-bank marine charger … but solar runs it almost all the time. No need for ‘fast charging’ or charging networks, of course.

So, anyway, enough about me. How about you? I imagine you built that little EV you’ve mentioned (3x? so far) you’re so proud of?

Well, still waiting here for any “original thoughts” from you too. So far, all I’ve contributed is the original posted article to start the thread, and two follow-up topical articles from related industry and oversight.

But thanks for your repeated off-topic snarks. They’re nothing if not entertaining.

As for how to reduce world population to manageable levels, yes: … I propose the best start would be eliminating those who have no sense of humor.

Nights-night.

Around town, fine.

Several times/year I drive back & forth to Salt Lake City, and I'd have to stop multiple times along the way to recharge for several hours.

We drive to various places for the day and back that same evening that total 400-500 miles with the driving while there, with stops only long enough for a quick meal and a rest room. We are in the Seattle area and often go to Westport WA, Walla Walla WA, Portland Oregon, Astoria Oregon, Vancouver, B.C. to name a few. More importantly we go camping in our 25' travel trailer, and my F150 will go 360 miles while towing the 6,000 lbs. With the F150 Lightening EV that would be 100 miles at best, and I have yet to see a campground with EV chargers, or any chargers that have space for a truck and trailer. You would have to use the 30 or 50 amp trailer connection, and that takes 13 hours, so one could only camp within 100 miles of home.

How many solar panels would fit on top that 25 foot trailer? Figure each panel is good for 375 watts...
Just imagine having a set-up where you never need to have a generator or other, for when you're already camping.
