People throughout the urban areas of California are rather concerned or, in some cases, downright offended by displays of patriotism. For example, it is common for people who live in Irvine to complain about flying or waving American flags in public spaces (e.g., public schools and other government buildings, HOA common areas, etc.) because people in Irvine are not usually American.
And which American values do you hold that you think foreign born immigrants do not?

The underclass living in West Virginia or Mississippi are Americans. They're also dirt poor, uneducated, hooked on opioids, fentanyl, and a hoste of other drugs. Supported by the welfare state. High rates of obesity and suicide.

What American values are these people bringing to the table that hard working immigrants are not? Just admit you're racist and you don't like people that don't look like you. At least then you would be logically consistent. Nativism is just stupid.

I guess you haven't spent time in an Emergency Room at a hospital lately.

Illegals use the ER as their primary care physician because they don't have to pay for anything.

Many people without health insurance seek care at community clinics where services may be offered on a sliding fee scale, so what they pay is based on their income.

California is expanding Medi-Cal — but hundreds of thousands of immigrants will still be left behind:

This state has become a disgrace to the country.
Both Texas and Florida have also experienced large numbers of hispanic immigrants but that hasn't made the Republican party irrelevant in those states. I am certainly not aware of any stories like this in Texas or Florida.

I think one big difference is that housing is a lot less expensive in both Texas and Florida. In California, you have a wealthy class and a fairly large underclass, but I think its a lot harder to join the middle class. In Texas and Florida, I would argue its a lot easier to join the middle class for everyone (including immigrant hispanics) than in California. In Coastal California you can be making more than a 100K a year and still not be able to afford to buy a house, so you feel poor and demand that government strengthen rent controls to keep your rent from going up. Similiarly if you are poor and can't afford to buy a home, but instead need a section 8 voucher to pay for rent, you are going to vote in the party that promises to defend and expand section 8 vouchers. I think dysfunctional housing policy in California is the big reason why the Republicans are currently dead in California.

I will also say if you can afford to a buy your own home, get married and have kids you aren't real interested in democratic socialism no matter what your ethnic heritage is. Instead you are worked up about what you can do to keep up property values and how to make your neighborhood and community better. In any community where you can afford to buy a house, get married and have kids the Republican party does very well. Single women vote for Democrats, married women vote Republican. There are a lot more Hispanics voting Republican in both Texas and Florida, why do you think that is the case? I am saying it is much more affordible housing that leads to more marriages and families.

As evidenced by the millions of us Californians who received the Middle Class Refund, I don't believe that's true.

How are you coming up with these generalizations?

Yes it was. In fact, when Blacks started moving to Southern California, very few moved to Orange County. Orange County was a place where alot of Black people stayed away from. Even today, few Black people, even Black people with alot of money, move to Orange County. On reason some African-Americans give is the feeling that they won't be welcome in Orange County.

Other minorities have moved to Orange County in droves, but African-Americans are bypassing that County.

At one time, Orange County was known as "Mississippi of the West". The KKK was a big influence in Orange County during the 1920s.

None of those things are okay except the last one -- all people should have access to emergency medical treatment, that's basically the hallmark of a civilized society.

But I agree, hiring illegals suppresses wage growth for the most vulnerable blue-collar citizens and also pushes them out of those jobs.

People who hire illegals are a--holes and/or cheapskates.

Please note Hispanics were not even tracked before the 1980 census. Nobody noticed or cared.

The Immigration and Nationalization Act of 1965 had a massive impact changing the demographics of America toward a non-white population generally, and Los Angeles specifically.

That is Los Angeles. Orange County was Lily White in the 1960s and 1970s. It was solid white.
Prior to the 80s, was the Hispanic migration mostly by white hispanics like Rita Hayworth, Richie Valens, and Desi Arnaz

Sometimes if demographics change drastically, and rapidly; illegal immigration is a likely factor.

Well you are compensating them for what they are willing to accept for the work. If free medical is added, that is more.
