Right now Costco has the 6 pack of ground beef for sale at the same price it was in February. I looked at AZ and they wanted something ridiculous like over $100/can there.
I chose apple, as they contain higher nutrient levels than many other fruits; but almost all are available.
This producer uses the entire apple, and per serving is much cheaper(well under a buck)and nutritious than traditional freeze dried fruit.
The perfect addition to oatmeal etc.
I like Mountain House too. Had it for camping once and the Chicken Fried Rice was so good, I was pretty impressed But I think it has a limited shelf life and is expensive .... but I'd buy it.

The shelf life for Mountain House is 25 years.
Yes it's expensive, but it's arguably one of the best out there.
I noticed the shelf life of the ice cream sandwiches is only rated for 3 years. Does anybody know why? I have some that have been expired for a few years. Most of them are fine, but every now and then I get one that doesn't smell right. The packaging has always been intact.

You just chuck 'em in a regular freezer, in the original packaging?
The ones I get, after three years, the milkfat would be somewhat rancid, some of the moisture would have evaporated.
And the chocolate cookie: I don't quite know what to call it, but exposure to the air, even through the packaging would taint the flavor.
I think they would be safe to eat, but not very tasty.
(That is my guess, since I have never had any ice cream last that long around me )

I should have been more descriptive. I meant the Mountain House ice cream sandwiches (freeze dried). I was curious why they are rated at 3 year lifespan instead of 25 like everything else they make. My first guess is that freeze dried food seems to really be rated for however long the container they are in is expected to last. But if there was a breach in the container I would know it upon opening because the humidity here is high enough to eventually rehydrate the contents.
