I remember going to warrior games and getting in then out. Never stayed in Oakland . Always went elsewhere afterwards.
I used to drive or BART to games all the time.

Experience was never as good as going to games in other markets with food/drink options nearby. Oakland never had the foresight to figure this out and attract investment.

No it is not wrong - Nobody wants to go to Oakland. Especially with the state of the stadium there.

A sports team is in business to make money - that is not greedy, that is good business.

The end result is Oakland has no major league baseball, basketball, and football team. I would say the likelihood of them ever getting one again is nil.

Maybe pursue a soccer team?

It’s out of context because I was speaking to SF vs. Oakland as cities i.e. population, wealth/poverty, tourism, popularity, urban/cosmopolitan lifestyle, significantly less violent crime, and so on - not specifically to the Giants (or any team). As such, logically-speaking, SF dominates.

Actually not a bad idea. I used to work in Oakland and for about 5 years in the field. When we were there a couple of years ago I noticed that the residential areas near the coliseum, like Brookfield Village and Sobrante Park had changed to almost all Hispanics now, and they are usually big soccer fans.

Which was nonsensical to begin with. You literally said "competing sports teams" in reference to this market. Obviously there are only two sets of teams that can be discussed in that context.

I was speaking to the market i.e. the cities that support them. It’s not rocket science to know, relative to the thread, there has been a lack of investment in Oakland teams amidst the city’s violent crime and other factors I mentioned previously, particularly by comparison to SF.

Cities don't support teams, regions do. The lack of investment has little to do with the city itself, if at all.

Teams are associated with a City/region (and the city is usually a part of the name) i.e. Oakland A’s, Las Vegas Raiders (Oakland Raiders), SF Giants, SF 49ers, Sacramento Kings, Boston Red Sox, Denver Broncos and so on - even when they aren’t technically in said city. That said, apparently you haven’t followed the news the past decade+ re: Oakland and the city’s pushback re: investment/stadiums/development, as a whole.

I'm aware, the point was the city itself isn't really much of a factor when it comes to support/reach since that is regional. I was referring to the owners investing in the team. The primary push back was using public funds for a development.
