Some people tell me, north carolina is mid-atlantic and others tell me its the south east. I was wondering if north carolina was more mid-atlantic or more southern
geographically and traditionally (culture-wise) it's southeast...not as "southern" as it once was of course...do you feel like you're in the south when spending time in the triangle...I don't
By no stretch of the imagination is NC "Mid-Atlantic" which defines cities like Philadelphia, Baltimore, etc.
Actually "NC" cannot be defined in one specific term. The rural areas are very Southern, almost "Mayberry RFD"-like in many places, and the urban areas are like large urban centers in some areas. The suburbs are like suburbs anywhere, with a mix of people from all over. Most places are "traditionally Southern with aspects from the North and Midwest".
I'm not sure why you are trying to characterize 9 million people in the state as all one thing, as there is a WIDE diversity of people here. You cannot possibly say "NC is like _____" and have it be true in every case.
