The ipads don’t get slower. Apps and the internet just got faster. That’s all. My old iPad 2 still works for what i use it for. I have a newer one for other stuff.

Well, in my family, we've had 8 or 9 ipads. Each of them slowed down in about 1.5-2 years. Every OS update slowed it down a little. Eventually, it gets VERY slow to do anything... And, I can find articles that state the same thing. I know people who have dealt with the same.
But, glad you don't have that problem. After 8+ ipads in my family (I was married to my ex at the time) - I've had enough with iPads. Never again.
You can do some things on a chromebook that works with your android phone. You can set up the chromebook to unlock when your phone is next to it, if you wish.

I guess i failed to be funny. It’s okay. The iPad does not get slower, everything else gets faster. As time moves on, it takes greater processing power to do what it did and it can’t keep up any more. (that’s technically what you mean by slower). However, I run older versions of apps, unconnected to the internet, and it is just as fast as always. My newer ones handle the newer stuff just fine, so i use the old one for a purpose that doesn’t need the internet or updates to work.
My newer iPads haven’t slowed down yet though. iPad 5th gen and a iPad Pro 2020.
I have the Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 and I am happy with it. The average consumer doesn't need a flagship-grade tablet unless they are into gaming or photo editing. My everyday device is my Samsung Galaxy S21+ smartphone; since I don't use my tablet every day as a daily device (unlike my smartphone) I don't think I need to splurge on a high-end tablet.
