The Minneapolis station on 830 kHz (WCCO?) is extremely difficult to get get from here, since it's only 10 kHz away from WBAP 820. I can get it with difficulty from Denton, TX which is 40 miles away, but it's vitrually impossible from here in Fort Worth.
KFI from Los Angeles while traveling at night through Wyoming. About 1000 miles.
The west seems to be better than the east for DX'ing nowadays.
Denver's KHOW-AM 630 and KRWZ-AM 950 ( the old Fabulous Denver Tiger "KIM"... KIMN 95 ) I have been told on good days when the conditions are just right both are still able to reach Canada and even way down to Texas, even into Mexico...during the daytime hours.
Denver's KOA on 850 kHz is a fairly easy catch at night. I doubt that a daytime AM broadcast band signal is going to make it to DFW from there. Dalhart and Amarillo, perhaps. At night I could hear them if competing stations didn't cover them up.

Catman is right. KOA calls itself the 50,000 watt blowtorch and it certainly is that! And yes, you can pick it up till noon when you are halfway between Amarillo and Tucumcari.
A station in Catman's neck of the woods I get every now and then is KRLD out of Dallas. 1080 I believe. The very furthest for me would be KFAB in Omaha. Picked it up one night as I was getting a room for the night in Holbrook, Arizona. Nearly 1000 miles away between those areas!
DOUBLE H: You are correct about KRLD being on 1080. I think WBAP 820 is at least equal to it in coverage. I think KFAB in Oamaha is on 1110 kHz; at any rate, I've heard it clearly before.
I haven't been halfway between Amarillo and Tucumcari for a long time! And when I was, I was riding a motorcycle, in no position to DX the AM band or any other.

I could be wrong but I am pretty sure WBAP is one of the very very few stations that can reach coast to coast as in reaching both the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. I know that I have been able to pick them up on the Maryland Eastern Shore a few times several years ago plus I have read online posts fromthose who has been able to get WBAP in San Diego. The Twin Cities' WCCO is another coast to coaster, come to think of it I think they even used that line ( or something similar ) on the air at one time. I am pretty sure New Orleans WWL is another one too
Denver's KOA, even though some had made the same claim about them on various sites as in reaching the Atlantic ( KOA does reach the Pacific ), I have been told by KOA themsevles that they don't make it no further east than Indianapolis though it doesn't stop people from saying things online such as "..hey I can pick up KOA in Rhode Island"..ah with Boston having a 50,000 watt monster on 850 ( WEEI ) and with NYC's WCBS 880 nearby..I have strong doubts.
It all depends on what sort of receiving equipment you have and how persistent you are. Certainly WBAP would be one of the easiest to hear from both coasts.
