Age Verification effectively bans use of the free streaming services like Pornhub.
I was unaware of this bill, thanks for pointing it out! I can't tell if the bill has become law yet, but it's excellent news. Hopefully it points to a larger trend that eventually puts pornographers out of business.

Here's the text of the version that passed the MS House:

HB 1315

That's really sad that people are so addicted to viewing pornography that it controls their choice of residence.

That data is, at best, 13 years old.

We're considering relocating to MS and this makes us far more interested in the state than we already were. It's a step in the right direction.

That bill is more symbolism over substance. Going through VPN (which is much simpler than it sounds) will easily get around this issue, if the porn sites (likely based off shore) even attempt to enforce it. LA has a similar law. I've spent a good deal of time in muslim countries with strict laws concerning what one can view, soldiers always easily and quickly found a way around these issues.

The war against porn has to start somewhere.

Regarding the topic of the thread, I have a question. For those who have lived in multiple states including MS, does poverty really seem much more prevalent in MS compared to other places you've lived?

Also, I see MS is usually #1 on lists of most affordable states / lowest cost of living states.

This bill will have no impact on anything other than giving legislators something to crow about to their church members.
