Hi! I have been looking at land upon which to build a log home. I found something reasonably priced in Chester. Can anyone tell me about Chester? What's nearby, how far a drive to Charlotte, Rock Hill, Fort Mill?
Thanks for the replies in advance!

Chester is in between Charlotte and Columbia, maybe 50 miles from Columbia and 45 from charlotte, depending on which part of Charlotte. You're 20 miles from Rock Hill. It's also in between the mountains and the beach. Chester has been hit hard by the economy and was actually not doing that well before the recent crash. Wal Mart even decided not to build a Super center to replace the old store in downtown.

But I love Chester. There are some really nice parts to it with old houses, etc. Further outside the city, there is a lot of landd to be had closer to Richburg and Fort Lawn. By the time you get to Fort Lawn, you're basically in Lancaster Co. for better or for worse.

I would like to know how many people in Chester are related to James Robert Brooks who died in 1990? He and is wife Ann and son Jerry lived on Sweeney Street.
