My mom, who is in her 70s, lives up North and was just placed into a Nursing Home. She has difficulty walking and basically needs round the clock care. Although I have family where she is, I would much prefer her to be here in the Carolinas with me.
I was wondering if anyone on here has had experience with any assisted living facilities in York County (Rock Hill, Fort Mill, or even Charlotte in NC). I, of course, want my mom to be in a nice place and one she can afford. I can't stand the thought of my mom not getting the care she deserves.
Her needs are help with bathing, going to the bathroom, transportation to medical appointments (she is a cancer survivor and has arthritis)... she falls a lot (gets dizzy, but doctors don't know from what - they're thinking from the radiation therapy she's had) - she has appointments at least 1 - 2 times a week for various things (screenings, etc...). She is very depressed and is having a hard time coping with this phase of her life. She's always been very independent, so a place where she could at least feel like she still has a little of her independence would be ideal.
Any help / recommendations anyone can offer on here is greatly and sincerely appreciated.
Are you looking for Assisted Living Facilities or Nursing Homes? We've had experience with both and lots of difference between the two.
A friend of mine has her mother in Lake Wylie Assisted Living. She is 85 years old and still on the go with all the activities the home offers. They provide transportation for shopping, doc visits. 831-9900
