My family is relocating to Charlotte for my husbands job (he is already there for a month), we will stay here in Atlanta until school is out and we sell our home here. We have looked at several areas and narrowed it down to Indian land, belmont but I'm now looking into Clover. Our main criteria is good schools, minimize traffic and commute if possible (we are used to horrible commutes here in Atlanta). We like a smaller town feel but drivable to area with restaurants and shopping, fell in love with DT Belmont but theres not a lot of housing on the market right now. I see that Clover school district has a great reputation but the HS is ranked a 5 on good schools site, any insight from local with kids in school there? Any other tips or information about the area? I'll be back up in a few weeks to look again with my hubby and will add Clover to the short list. He will be primarily working at the main Novant Presbyterian hospital in charlotte/plaza mid wood area I think its called. Thanks for any information

The commute to Presby from any of the areas you mentioned won't be bad. An hour each way on a *very bad* day. Much less hassle than ATL.

I've read in other threads that Great Schools changed their algorithms to grade schools, and some schools had significant downward changes to their scores even though the actual school environment did not change in any way. In general though, I think the school is probably good. Niche.com lists Clover High School as an A- school, and ranked #36 throughout all SC (out of 217 HSs).
