Hello

I recently moved here from the Midwest for my new job in Fort Mill. I currently live with relatives in Matthews.

I am a single guy, mid twenties and I am looking for a 1 BR place near my work. I still haven't changed my old drivers license or my car tag because I haven't decided if I want to stay in NC or SC

Could you please let me know about your experiences or knowledge about apartments in Pineville, Ballantyne, Tega Cay, or Fort Mill. I would like to stay in the $650 range.

Reading online reviews about some of the apartments have been horrifying lol
My two concerns are noise and bugs lol I think I can deal with most other issues

The apartments that I considering to visit are:

landmark at chesterfield
berkshire place
Peachtree place (I like that no pets are allowed)
millcrest park

Also is there any advantage in living in SC as opposed to NC?

Thank you in advance

Peach tree wasn't bad as I recall when visiting about a year ago. I am not sure what their rates are now but I ended up renting at Bromley Village (off exit 88) and have been pretty happy. Not sure what they have available right now.

As for NC or SC, since you are working in SC one advantage is only having to file one state return. If you live in Nc and work in SC you have to file in both states. Also I believe car insurance is way cheaper in York county vs mecklenburg county.

Millcrest Park is nicer than Peachtree. There's also a couple new apartments, Legacy on Pleasant Rd and Greens near the downtown area. Not sure what their rates are though. 18 months ago we were looking at apartments and Millcrest was my top choice (ended up renting a townhome). We visited all of them with the exception of Bromley as I have to get on 77S in the mornings and knew I would have a hard time turning out of there with the traffic.

Gas and taxes are cheaper in SC and your car has to pass emissions testing in NC, not in SC. Like PP mentioned, you would only have to file one tax return. However, if you're looking for fun, I will say you would probably like living in Charlotte better. A lot of family life here, simply because families want the school system for their kids.

Also, living in NC and working in SC incurs traffic issues. Not as bad as the other way around, but still not something I would want to deal with daily.

When I moved last year mill crest was more expensive, legacy was also. Bromley is only about 5 years old so most everything is new.

The turn out onto gold hill can be a little tough depending on what time you go, but no worse than some areas in Charlotte. Just my 2 cents.
