I wouldnt jump to conclusions to much here... yet its big yes.. but did you really think that there would never be homes next to an elementary school? Its all woods back there.. and from the article says.. they were planning on close 50 acres of open space.. 30 percent is decent. But when I did the math.. the total acres to be developed around 180 give or take? (30 percent of 180 is 50 acres). Which leaves roughly 100-120 acres for the housing. Seems doable if they plan it correctly. Im not sure they should be putting that many townhomes and multi-units that far off the highway is a wise decision. Id like to see Pleasant Road with really nice sidewalks connecting 160 and Gold Hill for bikes and pedestrian traffic. Slow the traffic down and make it a real "city" street in the next 5 years. There needs to be planning on "connecting" the city and town of Fort Mill with Pedestrian and Bike traffic.
I like the buffer of 35 feet, would expect 50 feet of setback from any road or school. I still think neighborhoods and developments should not be seen from the road and setback as far as they can.
I have relatives in the Ft. Mill area. More and more, I detest driving out there. Too much growth too quickly - traffic is often a congested mess already. And do they really need more commercial space? For what, more nail salons perhaps?
I cannot wait to sell and get out of here. It's horrible . Traffic is just horrible...and isn't there anywhere else in Fort Mill a developer can build besides off of 160? They are ruining this town, I have noticed that there aren't any butterflies this year, not really. Their habitat is being destroyed. It's so sad.

I saw 3-4 butterflies in my yard just yesterday. More than I've ever seen in one day in the 8 years I've been living here.
