I am moving to the Rawlins area (Hanna) next week and immediately have to travel to Grand Junction, CO where my companies office is located. I will be picking up a company truck there and do not really want to leave my truck in Grand Junction for an extended period of time. I am offering $200 plus gas for a ride down to Grand Junction on Sunday March 7, 2010. I have researched rental cars and flights from Laramie, Cheyenne and Rock Springs to Grand Junction. There are no rental car companies willing to rent one way in that area and the cost of a flight from anywhere close is ridiculous. I can provide contact information to my companies home office to show that this is legitimate. Please contact Ken at 540-522-9028 or send me a message.

Thanks,
Ken

I just checked Grayhound. If you are willing to depart Rawlins at 2am, you can be in Grand Junction 10 hours later for under $100. Just a thought.

This may sound crazy, but maybe you can look into renting a small U-haul or Ryder truck and drive that down to Grand Junction. I do not know what the cost is to rent one, but it might be close to what you are willing to pay for someone to give you a ride. If you are already renting one for your move to Rawlins, then maybe you can arrange to drop it off in Grand Junction rather than in Rawlins.

Another option, that may not be any help - if you can get a ride to (or leave your truck in) Ft. Collins instead of Cheyenne, I know you can find one-way rentals to Grand Junction. I think most car rental places only allow one-way if the drop-off is in the same state as the pick-up.

I've rented one way a lot of times and it really depends on the drop point. If they are low on inventory of a particular model, you can drop one way. But if their inventory is full, they won't accept drops. Grand Junction, kind of being off the beaten path, sounds like their inventory is full.

Like I said, I've done it before and at times I had to take a different model. For instance once time I picked up at Pensacola and went to Charleston. Couldn't get a compact, nor mid, nor full size car, however, they would rent me a pickup (really nice, fully loaded) if I would take that. They even discounted it because Charleston was needing that model.
